Beck’s Brewery, or Brauerei Beck & Co., was founded in 1873 in Bremen, Germany, by Lüder Rutenberg, F.G. Thomas May, and Heinrich Beck.It quickly gained international recognition, winning awards such as the gold medal at the 1874 International Agricultural Show in Bremen and the best European beer prize at the 1876 global exposition in Philadelphia.Notably, Beck’s was among the first to use green bottles, a distinctive feature that set it apart from other beers traditionally sold in brown bottles. The brewery also adopted the key emblem from Bremen's coat of arms, later modifying it to avoid licensing fees .
